چکیده

Operation and effluent treatment costs are limiting factors for the success of recirculating aquaculture systems (RAS) in meeting seafood demand United States. Adopting a capture-and-reuse waste management model similar to terrestrial agriculture farmers would allow RAS monetize offset production costs. The moisture content nutrient profile makes it potential option use as hydroponic fertilizer. Treatment is needed mineralize particulate-bound nutrients before becoming viable solution. Anaerobic (AT), method used by municipal agricultural facilities reduce total solids, has been shown successfully from effluent. Continuously mixed anaerobic batch bioreactors were evaluate degree which AT may solid waste. Concentrations twelve different macro- micro-nutrients analyzed after treatment. Effluent samples determine fraction each aqueous forms. This study showed that an effective mineralization rate data be design pilot-scaled flow-through system.

Nutrient Management in Recirculating Hydroponic Culture

INTRODUCTION There is an increasing need to recirculate and reuse nutrient solutions in order to reduce environmental and economic costs. However, one of the weakest points in hydroponics is the lack of information on managing the nutrient solution. Many growers and research scientists dump out nutrient solutions and refill at weekly intervals. Other authors have recommended measuring the conce...

Microcontrollers in Recirculating Aquaculture Systems

Closed-system aquaculture presents a new and expanding commercial opportunity; however, presently there are few profitable commercial operations. Intensive aquaculture systems require a sufficient supply of oxygen and nutrients in temperaturecontrolled water with a means of removing wastes from the system. In properly controlled recirculating aquaculture systems, stocking rates of up to one-hal...
